UPDATE: 5 suspects arrested, others sought for $500,000 liquor theft
The Windsor Police Service has arrested five suspects and seeks the public’s help to identify two others involved in last month’s liquor theft.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on May 17, 2025, several suspects stole a semi-tractor trailer loaded with over 1,000 boxes of Crown Royal whiskey products from a fenced-in facility in the 3300 block of Devon Drive. The trailer was found abandoned in the 4000 block of County Road 46 the following day. The stolen whiskey, which had a retail value of more than $500,000, remains missing.
The Windsor Police Target Base Unit launched an investigation and soon identified five suspects connected to the incident. Officers also determined that a cube van had also been stolen from a business in the 1000 block of Walker Road.
On June 5, 2025, officers arrested five individuals at locations throughout Windsor and Essex County.
Jason Greenwood, 46, has been charged with:
• Break-and-enter at a place other than a dwelling
• Theft over $5,000 (x2)
• Theft of a motor vehicle
• Possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking exceeding $5,000 (x2)
• Possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000 (x2)
• Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
Anthony Nelson, 57, has been charged with:
• Possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000 (x2)
• Possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking exceeding $5,000
• Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
• Mischief not exceeding $5,000
• Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
Erica Nelson, 44, has been charged with:
• Possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000 (x2)
• Possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking exceeding $5,000
• Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
Justin Vachon, 27, has been charged with possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking exceeding $5,000 and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
William Girard, 49, has been charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Investigators have also obtained video surveillance footage of two additional suspects.
The first suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years of age, with a dark-coloured full beard. At the time of the incident, he wore a baseball hat and a dark-coloured hoodie.q
The second suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years of age. At the time of the incident, he wore a dark-coloured hoodie with the hood up, black shorts, and black shoes.
The investigation is ongoing and other arrests are anticipated.
